Jon Batiste will return to Jazz Fest on Friday, April 26. He plays the Gentilly Stage at 5:30 p.m.

The 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival promises to be one of the biggest editions ever. With The Rolling Stones headlining a special day on Thursday, May 2, the event expands to eight days, and there’s more of everything: more music, more food vendors and items, and more art vendors.

The festival runs April 25-28 and May 2-5 at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, and the first weekend is packed. Headliners for the first four days include The Killers, Chris Stapleton, Anderson .Paak, Fantasia, Jon Batiste, Vampire Weekend, Widespread Panic, The Beach Boys, Heart, Kenny Barron Trio and more. The festival’s 12 music stages and tents host all sorts of music from Louisiana and beyond, and there also are a kids’ tent, an interview stage, parades on the grounds and performances in the Folklife Village.

The festival’s Cultural Exchange Pavilion highlights Colombian music and culture. Visiting bands play everything from traditional cumbia and salsa to contemporary hip-hop and Latin grooves, and some groups participate in parades on the grounds. There also are Colombian artists and crafts and a Colombian food booth near the tent. Programming extends to the Food Heritage Stage as well.

This year, opening day is Locals Thursday. Louisiana residents with state ID can buy up to two tickets for $50 each for admission April 25.

Tickets and VIP packages are available online. For the first weekend, advance single day tickets are $95 plus fees through April 24, and admission at the gate is $105. Children ages 2-10 get in for $5 with an adult. Visit nojazzfest.com for tickets and other information.

The festival went cashless last year. The box office and food and other vendors accept credit and debit cards, Apple, Google and Samsung pay and prepaid cards. Attendees with cash can purchase prepaid cards on the grounds. Visit the festival website for details.
