When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad

I simply remember my favourite things...and than I don't feel so bad!

Ichabod's New Orleans t-shirt shop on Magazine Street was building a reputation right before the storm and like so many other local favorite shops became one for the nostalgia files. They have risen from the dust through another medium- an entertaining online site including memorable logo designs on cute tee's and messenger bags framed next to old New Orleans You Tube videos . Everyone has their own personal and special memoirs of former local spots.... Some of mine include:

  • Walking to the Canal Villere on Carrolton and Claiborne behind the K&B- which will hopefully soon be replaced by Roberts
  • Hating the texture of Schwegmanns brown paper bags when I had to help carry the groceries in.
  • Eating pocket book rolls smothered in butter from McKenizes at my aunts house in Gentilly on Thanksgiving (I could have easily gone without Turkey and Gravy).

  • Understanding why I was not suppose to scream that "I was 4 not 3!" a few weeks after my birthday at the World's Fair when my parents told a little white lie to the ticket salesman. I was too scared to ride the Gondola but LOVED the Kiddie Wash.
  • Check out Ichabod's new site- and spend some time participating in New Orleanians favorite pastime after eating- reflecting on what's not there anymore. Share your favorite New Orleans memories here...
