Whoa there, fellas. Settle down now.

Perhaps due to the growing concern of fan behavior and that NFL games were no longer "family friendly" or that fans were putting way too much emphasis on getting completely trashed before noon, the NFL has released a fan conduct policy to be implemented this season. Actions that fans are ban from partaking in this season:

-- Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal.

-- Drunkenness and signs of alcohol impairment that result in irresponsible behavior.

-- Foul or abusive language or obscene gestures.

-- Interference with the progress of the game, including throwing objects onto the field.

-- Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel.

-- Verbal or physical harassment of fans from the opposing team.

You hear that? The days of dressing up, eating and drinking too much and generally acting like an ass at NFL games are over. The NFL is a family business, you hear? It's no place for senseless violence or general nihilistic behavior.

Seriously.

This Fan Code of Conduct idea is long overdue, if you ask me. In fact, it inspired me to draw up my own "Hornets Fan Code of Conduct." However, I feel the NFL is taking too negative of an approach by "banning" certain behaviors. I would much rather encourage specific actions I'd like to see from avid Hornets fans. Such as: - Booing Baron Davis, all members of the San Antonio Spurs and any Dallas Mavericks player who has appeared on sports talk radio in Big D in the past year (e.g. Stack, Josh Howard) - Bringing "CP3, the Real MVP" signs to home games. Make sure you bring at least TWO such signs on Nov. 12 and Dec. 23 when the Lakers come to the Big Easy. - Gently remind neighbors, friends and acquaintances that time is running out to purchase Hornets season tickets in the lower bowl of the Hive. If they're not the ambitious type and need a little coaxing, dial (504) 525-HOOP for them. Or get on their computer and explain to them how to log on to Hornets.com. They'll thank you later for being such a good friend!
