"Excellence in Recovery": Bernardo speaks

I've just talked to Bernardo, one of the event co-chairmen of the Excellence in Recovery Host Committee that's putting on the Tribute to the Recovery of New Orleans on Aug. 22, honoring Mayor Ray Nagin with the Award of Distinction for Recovery, Courage, and Leadership.
We talked for a while, but Bernardo didn't want to go on the record answering any specific questions or make any public statement about the matter. He said that all inquiries about the Excellence in Recovery Host Committee should go to Stewart Juneau, one of his fellow co-chairs.
I told Bernardo that I spoke to Stewart last night, and he reiterated that all queries should go directly to Stewart Juneau.
Bernardo finished up by inviting me, as Stewart did, to the party next Friday, and hoped I'd write an honest story the next day. You betcha.

Okay okay we've all had a good laugh... and rightfully so. But the key to this story remaining relevant now is finding out if there is any money involved (even if it isn't $500 a head) and where that money might be going. If "no public money" is being used... then whose money? Either way, enjoy the party, Kevin.

Kevin - why not submit a public records request to Penya Moses-Fields for all documents pertaining to Bernardo's employment, contracts, etc. with the City of New Orleans. I think we'd all like to know how much the taxpayers are spending to document the exploits of our sham leader.
Alison: Yes, I am. Both Mr. Juneau and Bernardo have extended invites. If there are any fashion consultants out there willing to offer some gratis advice, I'm all ears.

It would be at the same time as the Friday night Rising Tide meet & greet. We're hoping you'll at least get to Buffa's afterwards. I'm sure there'll be more than a few bloggers eager to hear all about it. ;)
