The Canadian newspaper for which I work ran its first story on September 1 -- from reporters and photographers who left Toronto, got into the French Quarter each morning, and then left at night to get somewhere outside the city where they could get electricity and Internet to file their stories. We could get a couple of ink-stained hacks into the city center from another country before the U.S. Army could arrive. Go figure.
