David, We in New Orleans agree with you. We think you should take all of your "red" cents and put them toward your education. David Winkler-Schmit and Noah Bonaparte Pais

Must agreewith David. Leftist whiners and their facsist enablers should get out of N.O. or face the hurricane on their own merits. We will not subsidize eco-whiners who stopped building levies.

"Facsist"? "Levies"? Subsidize a dictionary, Hamid.

Note to all: We don't argue, snark at, or piss around with people who get their talking points from talk radio -- from the right or left. There are thousands of places on the Web for that, but this is not one of them. Agree, disagree, but if you can look at a photograph and immediately think "leftist" or "rightist," you're in the wrong place, bucko. We in New Orleans are equally fed up with Democrats and Republicans, with "progressives" and "family values" types, with Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity as well as Michael Moore and the DNC pinhead who was caught on tape gloating about the possibility of upstaging the GOP convention. Argue? Disagree? Fine. But anyone who comes here to work out their own ya-yas, be they Green or Libertarian or Moronarian, will be swiftly kicked to another place where they can exercise their freedom of speech in a more comfortable echo chamber. This ain't it. Great pix, Noah.

> “Facsist”? “Levies”? Subsidize a dictionary, Hamid. When he can't argue the point, then the scoundrel attacks the person for his spelling, grammar, language and other triviality. Yup, its "fascist". As in "left-fascism". www.tinyurl.com/left-fascism

Hamid, don't you have a nola.com article to comment on?

Hamid, I'll "argue the point." You have your facts all wrong. We in New Orleans didn't "stop building levies." Congress (Repubs and Dems) failed year after year to appropriate sufficient levels of funding for a plan that Congress ordered the Corps to draft more than 20 years ago. The Corps as well as the local levee boards requested the funds (and had the local matches ready) since the mid-1980s, but year after year, through Democratic as well as Republican administrations, the budgets arrived in Congress with far less than what was requested/needed. Congress often cut the budgets further, causing the Corps to do levee building "on the cheap." This is a matter of historical record and is not debatable. If you think we're whiners, I can't wait to see you and your ilk freezing in the dark next winter -- and whining about high gas/heating oil prices -- because the Louisiana coast (through which America gets almost 30 percent of its TOTAL oil and natural gas) can no longer sustain the energy industry's infrastructure. Maybe we should shut down the port, too, to give your farmer neighbors a chance to see what it's like not being able to get their crops (or your coal) to market. Of course, we would never do such a thing deliberately -- but a storm or a big oil spill could do it in a flash. Abandon south Louisiana at your own peril, America. The truth is, you need us at least as much as we need you, if not more. Meanwhile, Hamid, get your facts straight or get back on nola.com with the rest of the uninformed. You'll love it there.

Ooops, you freeloaders welfare types dont even have a vehicle. Sorry, my error. Michael Moore: "this is sign of God" You friggin left fascists are now turning religious so that you can dupe the masses. What happened? Dialectical naterialism failed so now try religious fascism, you morons? Why dont you all become Muslims and get over with it, ey? Douchebags.

Wow. Hamid, your inane/inhumane comments reveal much more about yourself than about their intended targets. If I had to guess, I'd say momma didn't hold you enough.
