Condolences to Bruce Daigrepont and family

Posted by Kevin Allman on Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 6:20 AM

Keep a good thought for Bruce Daigrepont, who plays Tipitina's regular Sunday fais-do-do; his parents Albert and Jennie Rita Daigrepont were killed a week ago Sunday in Mississippi as they attempted to evacuate the city in advance of Hurricane Gustav. Our best to the Daigrepont family and their many friends.

Very sad news. I heard the story and was troubled before the names were released. We've lost another pair of great and proud New Orleanians. I send my condolences to Bruce and the Daigrepont family.

What a loss to the Cajun community! For the last ten years, I have been dancing at Tips. I will always remember the joy in their faces as they watched their son play! We will all miss them dearly!

I recall first meeting Bruce's family when I lived in Minnesota and they came along on a tour. They were warm and witty and true Cajun ambassadors. Anybody who knows Bruce's music knows of his love for his family and culture. All my love to the Daigreponts.

I have danced to Bruce's music since the first time that Tipitinas brought over the mudbugs from Frankie and Johnny's. My condolences to him and all of his family. God Bless

They were wonderful people, it is such a shame to see them bring the death toll of contraflow up to 15. My heart goes out to Bruce and the rest of their family.
