SBA Federal Disaster Assistance

Posted by Noah Bonaparte Pais on Mon, Sep 22, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Louisiana residents and businesses in need of rebuilding assistance may now apply for low-interest federal disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration. The loans are available for up to $40,000 in personal property damage; up to $200,000 for damaged or destroyed real estate; and up to $2 million in business-related losses. In addition, the SBA is assisting businesses with Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs), which provide immediate working capital and do not take damages into account. Call FEMA at (800) 621-3362 to begin the application process, or access the online application here. For further information about the program, call the SBA Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. The deadline for applications regarding property damage is Nov. 3, and the deadline for EIDLs is June 2, 2009.
