Oops! Sorry, my musical reindeer were asleep on the job and yesterday's strange Christmas song got lost in the shuffle. To make up for it, check out this amazing blog collection of Christmas soul songs... some of the best original tunes and funkified versions of classics from the Motown, Muscle Shoals and Trojan vaults, including recordings from Solomon Burke, Kim Weston, Carla Thomas, Marvin Gaye and more. If you saw Stephen Colbert's recent Christmas special and grooved on John Legend's inspired tribute to nutmeg, you'll dig the hell out of these. Oh yeah, baby.

For more in the "Nutmeg" vein, look for Jimmy Butler's "Trim Your Tree": "I'm going to bring along my hatchet / and my beautiful Christmas balls"

Rev. Frost's annual Bloody Christmas mixes are always a sprightly addition to the holiday sonic snowscape... http://reverendfrost.blogspot.com/2005/12/bloody-christmas-mix-part-3.html
