Trin-i-tee 5:7 returns to New Orleans East for a holiday concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21. In the mid-90s, a trio of New Orleans women set out to sing contemporary gospel but look and perform like TLC and other contemporary R&B groups. Early album credits included working with R. Kelly and Kirk Franklin. The strategy has been very successful. T57 has consistently climbed to the top of contemporary gospel and Christian music charts, and has cracked the top 20 on the R&B album charts several times. Founders Chanelle Haynes (left) and Angel Taylor (center) are joined by Adrian Anderson, who actually did makeup for the group before taking the third spot. Sunday's concert is at The Upperroom Bible Church (8600 Lake Forest Blvd.). Tickets $20. More about Trin-i-tee 5:7 here and here.
