Since the Saints were eliminated from the playoffs, they've had nothing to play for other than a winning record and a chance at making history. Well, at this point, they're halfway there. First, and most obviously, the Saints' win against the completely hapless Detroit Lions guarantees that New Orleans will at least have a shot at finishing the season at 97.
But while Drew Brees hasn't broken Dan Marino's passing record quite yet, the Saints did make some history Sunday. First, there was the Lions becoming the first team in NFL history to go 015. That led to another history-making moment shown in the video above where a Detroit Free-Press reporter asks what's either the ballsiest or rudest question ever uttered in an NFL press conference.
Today, the Saints have made even more history. Joey Harrington feels sorry for someone.
Now, the whole deal with the Detroit Free-Press columnist has been addressed pretty thorougly and, far be it from a low point, may have actually turned public sympathy in the Lions favor. But a feature-length article in which Joey Harrington talks about how he feels sorry for your team and your city? It really can't get much worse for Lions fans, can it?
It just goes to show, Saints fans. Things could be much, much worse.
