New Orleans City Planning commission says the delay is to ensure greater public participation. According to the now former schedule and timeline, the postponement may set things back a few.
The New Orleans City Planning Commission has postponed the District planning meetings, originally scheduled for mid-January. The new dates for the meetings will be announced, but the plan is to hold the meetings in March. Based on input received from the first series of meetings, planners are reworking logistics and other details to ensure even greater public participation.
The district meetings are part of a series hosted by the City Planning Commission to discuss the creation of a master plan to rebuild New Orleans infrastructure and to address new zoning ordinances. Several meetings have already been held in different parts of the city, and the community has been encouraged to participate and offer their views on the proposed Master Plan.
