Nancy Nall, one of my favorite online columnists and a.m. must-reads, had this Washington Post story flagged under "Leads that do not inspire confidence":
Timothy F. Geithner, the man tapped to lead the nation out of the greatest economic crisis in decades -- and who would oversee the Internal Revenue Service -- trekked to Capitol Hill yesterday to explain to senators how he made almost $43,000 worth of mistakes on his own tax returns....

Devil's advocate here - perhaps that's exactly the person we need overseeing this agency with the draconian, overly complex and mind boggling convoluted formulas, rules, forms, and confusing math equations. Honestly, I've probably made just as many mistakes on my tax returns too. The IRS makes it pretty difficult not to. Perhaps Geithner can bring some much needed reform to the IRS. And at least he admits his mistakes. I'm ok with that.
