Another sign of life: re-use, recycle

Posted by Alison Fensterstock on Thu, Jan 15, 2009 at 10:30 PM

The residents of this snazzily painted Bywater home seem to have somehow gotten their hands on the original sign from the late, lamented Treme watering hole and perennial second-line stop Joe's Cozy Corner, which closed in the summer of 2005 after a bit of drama. It's a pleasant and unexpected splash of color (and culture) to run into on a walk around the 'hood... and it's always nice to know that one has interesting neighbors.

Everything is much more colorful in New Orleans (case in point, the above sign and house). Makes the rest of the country look downright boorrring.

Hollaaaaaa! It looks wonderful--in New Orleans, everything has a story and a history, and it's nice to see it on a sign!
