Perry Reaches Fundraising Goal

Posted by Clancy DuBos on Sun, Mar 1, 2009 at 9:36 PM

The nascent campaign for mayor of fair housing advocate James Perry continues. A group called “Friends of James Perry Committee” announced that it has reached its initial, though modest by political standards, fundraising goal of $25,000 by the self-imposed March 1 deadline. That money will be used to launch a campaign Web site and allow Perry to move the next level of his exploratory campaign — outreach among voters, developing a policy platform and launching his official campaign for mayor.

An email announcement from the committee stated that donations had come from “more than 130 people,” including young professionals bloggers, small business owners, non-profit leaders, neighborhood advocates, people from around the country with New Orleans connections, policy experts, and high school, college, graduate and law students who are excited about electing James Perry as the next mayor of New Orleans.”

Congrats to the JP team! I know they picked up some big endorsements this week - including one from Wade Henderson. His campaign is going to heat up real fast if he they win that suit against Road Home
