Is March Whiskey Awareness Month? Two weeks ago, representatives from Bushmills poured gratis jiggers of its Black Bush and 1608 Reserve Irish whiskies at Clever Wine Bar. And at 6 p.m. tomorrow night at the New Orleans Museum of Art, two mixologists from Canadian Mist Whisky will present Mistology: The Science Behind the Cocktail, a pseudo-educational, entirely wino-friendly event that promises to answer burning whiskey questions like Why do bartenders pour the alcohol before the mixer? and Why no e in Scotland and Canada, eh? Tim Laird is the brands CEO (thats chief entertaining officer, wink) and Steve Hughes is its R&D spirits scientist (formal education: doctorate in drunk). Their show will be followed by a hands-on demo, which reads an awful lot like pour your own -- and if so, no problems there. Canadian Mist, despite sounding like a laundry detergent, is actually an award-winning spirit from Ontario made using water from the pure Georgian Bay. So its no Pontchartrain, but itll do in a pinch. Tickets $15 general admission, $5 NOMA members.
