"Furcations"!

No, this has nothing to do with furries -- "furcation" is a new, awful portmanteau word for a new, awful situation: vacations you take while your company has you on unpaid furlough.

Are you looking to get away for a few days but can't afford it? Well, someone has already come up with Furlough House Swap, a Web site that does just what you'd expect. It's the brainchild of Yuri Victor, a product design and development manager for Gannett, the newspaper chain that's been at the furlough forefront. Right now the only three states represented at Furlough House Swap are Virginia, Oklahoma and Florida, but I can't imagine that some poor furloughed schlub wouldn't jump at a chance to stay in a Creole cottage or a refurbed shotgun for a week. If you're a "furloughie," why not sign up and start planning your own summer furcation?
