Musicians Help Musicians' Healers

Jazz Fest time is when the enormous wealth of musical talent and tradition in New Orleans comes into focus. Throughout the year, however, the folks at the New Orleans Musicians Clinic are focused on making sure those musicians get the care they need to stay healthy and productive.
- On your own busy Jazz Fest schedule this weekend, consider making some time to drop into a benefit birthday party for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic, which is hosting a two-day party this evening and tomorrow night at the Big Top (1638 Clio St.).
The party has been dubbed Ford Fest 2009, in honor of local musicians Jimmy Ford, and it will include nine bands on two stages and free crawfish Monica.
- Founded 11 years ago, the volunteer-run New Orleans Musicians Clinic provides health care services to local musicians, who often have little or no health insurance coverage.

- WHAT: A Benefit Birthday Party celebrating the New Orleans Musicians Clinic 11th year
WHEN: Second weekend of Jazz Fest, Friday and Saturday May 1 & 2, 9pm
WHERE: The Big Top, 1638 Clio
WHO: 9 bands performing over 2 nights on 2 stages.
Friday: Morella and the Wheels of If, Manwitch, Hands of Nero & The Way.
Saturday: 30X90,Stand Pat, Won Ton Lust, Manmade Disaster and the Poppies.
HOW MUCH: $11 for both nights, $7 for single night admission.
