HBO commits to "Tremé" series

Posted By on Wed, May 6, 2009 at 5:15 AM

From Variety:

HBO has ordered Treme, the New Orleans-set, post-Hurricane Katrina drama from The Wire's David Simon and Eric Overmyer, to series.

Pay cabler was still hammering out details on the order late Tuesday, including how many episodes and credits. Overmyer and Nina Kostroff Noble are already onboard as executive producers, with more likely to come.

Read Noah Bonaparte Pais' behind-the-scenes look at the pilot (including interviews with Simon and star Wendell Pierce) in our April 13 cover story here. There's no more details about the show yet, but filming wouldn't begin until at least November (when hurricane season winds down) so Tremé the series wouldn't debut until at least 2010.
