As we wait patiently for the vote on the American Clean Energy and Security Act, here's a brief week's worth of green:
- Yesterday, employees from Cotton Incorporated and American Eagle Outfitters joined Habitat for Humanity to use salvaged cotton to insulate a home in Musicians Village.
- Tulane University's Energy Institute associate director Eric Smith says America shouldn't jump wallet-first into new solar technologies.
- Yikes. Alaska gov'ner Sarah "global warming isn't man-made" Palin is totally cool with turning a 23-acre lake into a toxic catastrophe.
- A 15-year-old Texan high schooler developed a way to use algae as a fuel source.
- Moving to San Francisco? You will be required by law to separate your recyclables and compost-ables from regular trash. Mayor Gavin Newsom signed legislation making recycling a civic requirement.
- Tomorrow, the Lakeview Civic Improvement Association will host Rebuild Lakeview Day, a town hall forum to discuss the Lot Next Door Plan and Lakeview's Phase Two program and to provide resources to companies and service providers for rebuilding. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Dominic's Gym in the 6300 block of Vicksburg Street.
