Fellow alt-weekly the Boston Phoenix unveiled its results from its daunting annual poll of the Best New Bands in America. Reppin' Louisiana is Generationals, the Park the Van up-and-comer and Gambit favorite. (Their debut album on the now-Orleanian label drops July 21.) Here's what the Phoenix says:

WHY THEM? This is cold, hard funk from some buttoned-up, angular-faced Europeans with a couple of ’80s drum machines, some juicy synths, and “Freakazoid” robots manning the boards. So why does every other thing they do sound lifted from a vault of reverb-slathered AM pop? The Generationals aren’t your typical N’awlins export, coming off like Gary Numan’s Tubeway Army covering the Beach Boys — and then remixed by Propellerheads.

BONUS BIT! Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer may be otherwise known as members of the now-defunct Baton Rouge favorites the Eames Era.

What do you think? Any other suggestions?
