eGreens: Quote of the Week

This week's Quote of the Week comes from Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota. On her blog (appropriately titled, in all caps, BACHMANN BLOG, as in "BACHMANN MAKE WRITE ON INTERNET"), she writes:
You would think that any health care bill brought forth in Congress would actually be focused on reforming health care. Alas, it seems that both House and Senate proposals are packed with pork as well.
As the Boston Globe has reported, tucked into bills in both chambers are provisions funding what Senator Ted Kennedy’s staff calls “Community Transformation Grants.” Essentially, we’re talking about federal funding for bike paths, lighting, jungle gyms, and even farmers markets.
- We all know communities despise bikes and bike resources. And yes, even farmers markets. Those unhealthy vestiges of filth destroying communities with their affordable alternatives for feeding their families with fresh produce that dare make their communities healthier.
While these projects may have merit, they certainly don't belong in a health care reform package. With priorities like this running amok on Capitol Hill, is there any doubt that health care costs will only continue to skyrocket under government-run health care?
- To borrow from Ghostbusters: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave! Healthy community resources running amok on health care platforms! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
