The Yes Men Fix the World

Gonzo prankster activists The Yes Men honed their craft by impersonating top company officials and making outrageously good-willed (and clearly false) announcements of corporate responsibility. One of them famously posed as a Dow Chemical official and went on European news stations to announce that the company would clean up after the chemical spill disaster at Bhopal (by Union Carbide, which Dow bought). New Orleanians may remember the duo impersonating HUD officials in August of 2006, when they claimed the agency was reversing itself and not tearing down public housing. They even held a ribbon cutting ceremony. In advance of the U.K. release of their film The Yes Men Fix the World, the duo targeted Dow again — this time announcing the release of a bottled water brand called B’eau-Pal. The label says, “The unique qualities of our water come from 25 years of slow leaking toxins at the site of the world’s largest industrial accident…”
