A pretty cool photo exhibit will be debuting tonight at Bacchanal Fine Wine & Spirits on Chartres and Poland in the Bywater. It's the first in a series of local photographers featured at the Bacchanal, who are refitting their 200-year-old building as an art gallery in the coming weeks.
Tonight's featured artist is Greg Rhoades, a Loyola grad who's I recently found is three degrees of separation from me (another reason to love this city, get drunk with enough people and you'll find friends everywhere). Greg says his "photos epitomize the coming of age in New Orleans: following second lines through the Lower 9th Ward, late-night jamming out in smoky Marigny bars to jazz legends, costuming in Mardi Gras parades through the Quarter, and observing the fine architecture city-wide."
I say you should very well check it out if you're around. The opening night party starts at 7 p.m. and will feature the New Orleans Moonshiners and Vincent Marini. There will be booze, so you can get drunk, listen to some jazz and check out some art. Sounds like New Orleans to me.
