Strike up a chorus of "St. James Infirmary" for Southern Accents magazine, the latest casualty of the downward spiral of print. Time Inc. is shuttering the Birmingham, Ala.-based gracious-hospitality title after 32 years; its Sept.-Oct. issue will be its last. The conglomerate says, however, that the Web site SouthernAccents.com will continue. No word on the number of jobs lost.

And yet they still billed me for a year's renewal last week. Ugh.

I remember quite fondly their recipe for exploding biscuits. Seems they never fully recovered from that. ;-) My mom used to get it each month, peruse it, then pass it off to my dad, who was wild about landscaping and got all kinds of good stuff from it. It will be missed.
