Though not unlike contemporaries in the international (Earthen) realm of electronic music duos France's Daft Punk and Air, England's Autechre and F--- Buttons, Canada's Junior Boys and Crystal Castles, New York's Ratatat New Orleans Moog fetishists The Buttons take a more intergalactic approach (well, not as much as say, Daft Punk, who may as well be aliens). The Buttons step out from their underground-UFO lair at Spellcaster Lodge and perform at One Eyed Jacks Saturday, Sept. 5, briging with them their smoke-machine-induced exhaust fumes and pulsating Close Encounters of the Third Kind lights (and respective musical notes) rearranged for a coked-out intergalactic disco. The Buttons surround themselves with clunky analog synthesizers and drum machines, pumping out Giorgio Moroder-inspired vocoder-pop with motorik dance beats. (Backporch Revolution has the band's eight-song LP up for free download.)
