As they've served food from the Green Plate Special tent at the Crescent City Farmers Market all this past month, chefs Adolfo Garcia and Josh Smith have also been fielding a lot of questions about A Mano.

That's the new trattoria-style Italian restaurant they plan to open in October in the Warehouse District. Garcia took over the former Hipstix space on the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Joseph streets for the venture. Smith, a long-time chef at Garcia's RioMar restaurant, is his partner in A Mano and will be its chef.

So for their next date at the Green Plate Special tent, Tuesday, Sept. 22, they will serve dishes from the A Mano menu, including white bean soup with local greens, farro salad, Calabrese porchetta sandwiches and gianduia budino di pane -- or, basically, chocolate-hazelnut bread pudding.

The al fresco market lunch should serve as a sneak peak to the new restaurant's cooking style. Its name is Italian for "by hand" and Garcia says it will use a hands-on approach with lots of restaurant staples prepared in-house, including sausages, salami and pastas.

The Tuesday market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine at 200 Broadway, in the parking lot of Tulane University Square (formerly Uptown Square).
