Sad, shocking news yesterday when Roy Rondeno, the popular postman who had been hit by a car, died while on the operating table. The planned benefit for his family will go on next Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm in the CVS parking lot at 4920 Prytania St., with restaurants donating food, merchants donating items and Garland Robinette as the event's emcee.
You can find more details on Monday on the memorial site RoyThePostman.com, or you can express your condolences directly to Roy's widow Shirley and the rest of his family at r3rondenosr[at]yahoo.com. Full details of the event are on the site now.

IT IS VERY SORRY FOR THE AUSENCE OF SO USEFUL AND GENEROUS PERSON, SPECIALLY BY THE WAY HE DIES.BUT LIFE MADE THE GLORY OF DYING WHILE CARRYING OUR HIS DUTIES OF PUBLIC SERVANTS SMILING AND HONORING HIS WORK, HONORING THE NEW ORLEANS CITY, HONORING THE CITIZENS, HONORING HIS FRIENDS, HONORING HIS FAMILY AND HONORING TO THE HUMAN SOCIETY. MAY THE MEMORY OF HIS USEFUL LIFE AND HIS WILLINGNESS NICA TO ALL, BE THE COMFORT FOR HIS FAMILY. AND I THINK THAT ALL CITIZENS ARE WAITING FOR THE JUSTICE OFFENDER THAT CAUSED HIS DEATH.
