The new Italian restaurant from chef Adolfo Garcia and chef Joshua Smith opens for dinner tonight in the Warehouse District.
The restaurant is called A Mano (870 Tchoupitoulas St., 208-9280), which is Italian for "by hand" and sums up a concept full of house-made pastas, sausages and cured meats on a menu of central and south Italian cooking.
A Mano is in the former Hipstix space on the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Joseph streets, near Garcia's two other restaurants RioMar and La Boca. Smith, a long-time RioMar chef, is his partner in A Mano and will run its kitchen.
Garcia has said the menu will be short and that it will change frequently. Here's a preview of some of the dishes from the restaurant's publicist:
Supli ai Telefono (Rice croquettes stuffed with caciocavalla cheese)
Insalata di Mare (Salad of octopus, shrimp, squid, celery and potatoes)
Coniglio della Casa (Slow-cooked rabbit with oil- cured olives, roasted garlic & thyme)
Coda alla Vaccinara (Butchers-style braised beef ox-tail)
Chocolate and Pistachio Semifreddo
Cassata Siciliana
A Mano serves dinner Monday through Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
