Preservation Hall meets Mickey Mouse?

Posted by Will Coviello on Tue, Oct 20, 2009 at 11:27 PM

One of the visual treats planned for the Bingo! Parlor at Voodoo is this new animated video for a Preservation Hall Hot 4 version of "St. James Infirmary (King Britt Remix)." It will be screened during Bingo! Show performances in the Bingo! Parlor and also at intervals on the Voodoo Stage video screen. It's a fun short animation that mimics the visual style of early Disney Steamboat Willie shorts. It also puts a Bingo stamp on the image of Preservation Hall. Compare it to Betty Boop and Steamboat Willie after the jump.

I think the video is amazing, and though it definitely has an old-time cartoon feel -- old Mickey Mouse or Betty Boop -- the thing it most immediately reminded me of is Triplets of Belleville: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDCOxHz3EVw&feature=related
