Tonight: Medieval Times

Posted by Lauren LaBorde on Wed, Jan 6, 2010 at 6:28 PM

If you're like me, spending the evening with King Cake and a blanket with sleeves seems better than going to a parade in this kind of weather. But I suppose if you're wearing head-to-toe velvet and chain mail, galavanting in the French Quarter as the temperature drops wouldn't be so bad.

Tonight the Joan of Arc Project — a group that celebrates St. Joan of Arc and the times in which she lived — is having their medieval-themed parade in the Quarter. On the heels of the Joan of Arts Fete this past Sunday, a costumed band of revelers will start at the Jean Baptiste Bienville statue next to the Bienville House Hotel then snake through the Quarter, eventually ending up at the Joan of Arc statue at St. Philip and Decatur Streets.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. Here's a Google map of the parade route.
