Follow Sean Payton on Twitter and he'll give money to Haiti relief

Posted by Kevin Allman on Mon, Jan 18, 2010 at 3:36 PM

The story's all in the title, but here's the links:

People if I get 200-anynumber of followers by the end of the week i will donate 5k to the lovely people of Haiti so follow me and RT this

And here's his Twitter page, with only 108 followers so far, which doesn't seem many for THE BEST DAMN NFL COACH IN THE WORLD. Won't you be Sean's friend?

199 now. He ought to at least get 5 times 200, if not more.

Maybe he doesnt have many followers because it seems like an obvious fake account. Read some tweets- I doubt Sean Payton types like that. It sounds more like a 15 year old who isnt even pretending to be Payton. Especially with how many "famous" people he's tweeting to, probably just trying to get them to respond to him so he feels like someone important. Unless this account gets "verified" I'm going with fake account. Especially since he claims he doesnt have time for twitter, yet is literally tweeting about 20 times an hour. Dont you think Sean Payton is a little too busy right now looking at Vikings game film to have made 170 tweets in 24 hours??? Come on guys- use some common sense.

On second thought, check the Web link on the Twitter page. Leads to an Open DNS page that says the web address doesn't exist. I want $5K to go to Haiti, but not to a Tweeter Tube impostor.

Not a verified account ... I doubt Payton uses "lol" in real life! C'mon, Gambit!

I'm no longer following @the_gambit on Twitter, nor am I ever reading an article posted on this website. Do some investigation before you post something. This is ridiculous. You're supposed to be a reputable news source, yet you can't differentiate a fake Twitter account (for celebrities, there's a "Account Verified" badge, see Reggie Bush's account). I wouldn't have a problem with this, except they're trying to get followers in the name of a tragedy, only to probably spam followers once they get a high enough number (potentially defrauding people). If you're gullible enough to fall victim to it, I guess it's your fault, but Gambit, you have a responsibility to your readers to do your homework. Booo!

In other news, "Bob" has never made a mistake in his life. These things happen. Thanks for coming out, admitting the mistake and correcting it.
