Bright Star deferred

Posted by Will Coviello on Wed, Jan 20, 2010 at 7:23 PM

The New Orleans Film Society was set to host weekend matinees of Jane Campion's Bright Star. The 3:15 p.m. Saturday screening is still on. But the Sunday screening has been scrubbed so the Prytania Theatre can air the Saints game. But two extra screenings the following weekend: 2:30 p.m. Sat.-Sun., Jan. 30-31. A short preview of the film is here. Campion's portrayal of the relationship between poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne is very good (though the trailer above is dreadful and casts it as a romantic fairy tale).

The poster also looks like a run-of-the-mill period mellow-dramatic romance flick, but the description actually piqued this girl's interest. I am not a fan of that frou frou rompy romance crap.

I would rather watch dogs get hit on the highway.
