What is up with our local celebrities today? Normally docile, they seem to be making headlines for all the wrong reasons. First Lil W---e disses the Saints, and now Us magazine claims that part-time resident Angelina Jolie hates this town:
The Big Easy is nothing but a big headache for Angelina Jolie. She and her partner, Brad Pitt, purchased a home in New Orleans in 2007 -- but an insider tells Us Weekly that an irked Jolie "calls it 'his house.'"It seems that the resilient Louisiana city isn't Jolie's cup of tea, and it threatens to drive a wedge between her and Pitt, 46. "Brad loves spending time in New Orleans, but Angie doesn't," the source divulges in the new issue of Us Weekly. "They fight because of it...she keeps yelling at him that she hates New Orleans and never wants to go back."
Without any sourcing other than an "insider," I'll choose to disbelieve it -- Brad Pitt's contribution to the 9th Ward is well-known, and everyone I've ever talked to around the French Quarter who had a Pitt-Jolie sighting or interaction said the family were extremely nice and about as down-to-earth as you could get, given their circumstances.
After all, if you're held in high esteem by the counter staff at the Verti Marte, you're A-OK in my book.

Wouldn't be the first relationship messed up by this city.
i don't believe it either. tabloids and gossip sites have been spreading lies about angelina ever since she hooked up with pitt. too bad they dragged nola into their garbage.
If this is true, Angeline Jolie was NOT the only one who HATES New Orleans. Let see, Ed Blakely, The Tom Benson and the Saints before Katrina and little while after Katrina, George Shin and the Hornets that wanted to try out Oklahoma before settling for New Orleans... How about the 250,000 who left New Orleans because of Katrina and DID NOT come BACK 4 years later..... Marc Morial sold his house. Nagin bought a house in Dallas. What about all those Saints that got burned by the Hollywood Movie Studio and the Film Tax Credits? Do you see Nicholas Cage still wanting to be in N.O. with a smaller house? What about Chevron? They left the New Orleans area. ORECK left Jefferson Parish. Crystal Preserves..gone.... Now, did we get to talk about the corruption in Jefferson Parish? No, not yet..... NOW, get a clue lazy New Orleaneans, if you think you are going to get 200 BILLION for levees and coastal restoration so you can protect your casino, video poker and more low income tourism jobs and not to mention the housing project and the drunks in the French Quarter and Bourbon Street and your alcoholic way of life, think again.
Yeah well, I know a few New Orleanians that hate New Orleans, kinda in the way they used to say that "It rains everyday in New Orleans...somewhere, sometime, usually around 3 in the afternoon". What I'm kinked about is the NFL claiming royalities for the Fleur or Who'dat or WTF'DAT... http://www.neworleans.com/blogs/whodat-say-you-gotta-cease-and-desist.html What'up Wit'dat?
AHContraire, New Orleans didn't get 200 billion dollars for anything, but nice try. I don't think your math is correct when you say 250000 did not move back to the city. As of July of 2008, according to the Census Bureau 337000 New Orleanians had moved back. There were 454000 New Orleanians. By my math that would mean that only 117,000 hadn't moved back after three years. Further, the alcoholic way of life you speak of is predominantly frat boy tourists on Bourbon Street. As for the natives, there's a big difference between having a good time while drinking and being an alcoholic. Alcoholics never have a good time, for one. And finally, no, I won't stop being lazy!
Are you saying that the ~150,000 that did eventually moved back to New Orleans are the SAME ones that moved out after Katrina? WHY NO THEY ARE NOT? If there were, there wouldn't be the massive need for all the government housing incentives that are specifically tailored for New Orleans's situation. Look at all the NEW Mexican stores and all the rentals for Mexicans..Not they are bad BUT the ORIGINAL group of New Orleaneans did NOT move back, period. That's part of the reason why the AIRPORT traffic is so high. It's a lot of former New Orleaneans visiting and also checking up with their parents. ALSO, with regard to this alleged comment from Angelina about this being "BRAD's HOUSE", a house in the French Quarter to raise like 6 kids was a bad idea to begin with. How many families do you know want to RAISE their kids in the FRENCH QUARTER and BOURBON street? Ha, ha, ha, ha..... IMPORTANT POINT for FEMALES: There were and are a HUGE majority of FEMALES of CHILD BEARING AGE that LEFT NEW ORLEANS because New Orleans is not a safe or family friendly place to raise kids to begin with, especially after Katrina.and regards to levees and coastal erosion. That's how it is in New Orleans and Louisiana. Look at how many people left for the NorthShore and Baton Rouge. AND, ANGELINA is NOT the ONLY woman of child bearing age that has HEATED ARGUMENTS with their Husbands or man of house regarding the safety and family friendly nature of New Orleans. I know first hand of several families, couples where there is a constant argument about WHERE to raise the KIDS and it is a BIG time discussion in regards New Orleans and it's low and bottom of barrel way of life and this is not to mention hurricanes and levees and evacuation. ALL MOTHERS will really take issue with this AND their BIOLOGICAL INSTINCT of protecting the KIDS will take over. Are you listening BRAD? Why not ry to work something out, time sharing, hiring more tutors. Minimize the time in New Orleans with the kids...Military and Army Families can do it. Maybe make New Orleans more of a summer home instead or a long vacation home as opposed the main home? Are you not supposed to of the creative film industry? Why not keep trying to find out creative ways to work this out and maybe you and Angelina can work this out? Or would rather have another messy breakup like I am hearing now? Brad, there is a time and place for everything, and now is not the time to make a statement. New Orleaneans and Louisianans must eventually learn for themselves how the real world works and not be lazy like they are now. They must learn for themselves, EVEN it it's the HARD way, the consequences of their actions
To Brad Pitt: Let the volunteers, the singles who have no children, and the Feds do their work in cleaning up New Orleans. Brad, you will not be abandoning New Orleans if you allow Angelina to switch the proportion of time spent in New Orleans so that your house in New Orleans will be like a summer vacation house. It will be also be good for your kids to see two (2) sides of life. (a) The life outside of New Orleans where things work during the regular school year and then in say, the summer (b) bring them back to New Orleans, where things don't work for a month or more. Sort of like the hundred of thousands of volunteers who have done likewise for New Orleans. Then MAYBE, they, your children, can bring their ideas from what they learned OUTSIDE of Louisiana, into New Orleans sometime in the future when they grow up. See how that works?
Raising Brad and Angelina's Children in the French Quarter: Let's see, how many people were shot at the Bayou Classic In New Orleans this past year? Ohhhh, around seven (7) people on one night. How about that gutter called Canal Street that's in walking distance from Brad's and Angelina mansion? Have you ever seen it? It's like a 6 lane main street with ghetto and white trash walking around in a decorated area if street cars, lamps. Kind of like the failed social experiment called mixed housing that replaced public housing where they fix up things to be nice and artsy, but the type of people that live there are total losers, drug addicts, dead beat dads, welfare queens, tattoo and body piercing types, etc.... Canal Street is a bunch of t-shirt and liquor shops. So let's see, How many people where shot in the French Quarter all year? Far more than a dozen. NOW, ask yourselves, how can any mother raise their kids or walk the streets or allow the kids to walk outside without the fear of being SHOT or for that matter having a BULLET come through your house? Where are Brad and Angelina's kids going to play? Will these kids ever step OUTSIDE of the mansion in the French Quarter? One would have to be nuts to do so. Yes, New Orleans wants college kids who don't tip anyway cause they don't have jobs to fund and pay the bills of the City of New Orleans. Forget the family friendly stuff that pays the bills in other cities, New Orleans wants money losing festivals and parades that still can't even pay for garbage pickup in the French Quarter. That's right, the so CALLED alcohol taxes on beer CANNOT even pay for cleaning up itself. Why, cause no ever thought that college drinking kids (who DO NOT have jobs to begin with) can't even tip the wait staff and bartenders anyway or even go out to a nice restaurant? Even the King of Mardi Gras is worried and commissioned a study at Tulane to access the economic impact of Mardi Gras. That report is so B.S. and can easily be dis-proven. If Mardi Gras and all the other festivals were sooo successful economically, why is New Orleans SO POOR, BROKE and DEAD LAST economically? Why can't New Orleans fix the streets and the street lights and the list goes on and on? All that money that is spend on krewe fees, beads, etc can be spend on other more important things like OTHER CITIES do that are NOT at the bottom of the list like New Orleans. basically, New Orleans spends all it's money on parties instead of important stuff like extra learning stuff for their kids, or fixing this or that at the house or the car, or maybe investing in some startup that actually does some long term good by solving a long and well know problem. But NO. The only creative stuff New Orleans can think of is what to throw off a float for FREE!!
Well, maybe it is true - today on Sunday Morning, Charles Osgood had a story that Brangelina are seeking legal separation in the UK
