Yesterday when the U.S Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to overturn federal laws that forbade corporations from using profits to pay for political campaign ads, a majority of the judges thought the laws violated the corporations right to free speech.
No sufficient governmental interest justifies limits on the political speech of nonprofit or for-profit corporations, wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy in the majority opinion.
Buck Quigley, a journalist with Buffalos Art Voice, sees it as a landmark decision that should help the drive to give corporations more rights, such as voting and marriage.
Quigley makes a great point, and his article should prompt any true American to stand up for those less fortunate.
