How ironic because the failed Sushi joint next door to it burned down a few years ago which turned out to be insurance fraud if I remember correctly. Of course the sushi place used to be a Hardees, then a Kenny Roger Roasters, then (my favorite ) the Fun Arcade. I've only ate at Red China only once. My friend's cousin worked there for a number of years. Oh well, another Covington landmark bites the dust.

South China was an excellent restaurant in its heyday. Unfortunately the quality of the food declined in recent years. Still it's sad to see it burn.

I hope no one was injured. This was THE first real Chinese restaurant I can remember in W St. Tam when all that was between Cov and Mandy was 1 traffic light and that one was blinking. Best thing: Eggrolls. Their secret ingredient: Peanut butter. I'll never forget meeting the owner, Mr. Kim or my favorite waitress, Gail, who always had a ready quip. Best fortune cookie from there: Your car will be trouble-free for the next 10,000 miles. Thanks for the memories.
