Pop quiz: You're a pubescent girl living in the greater New Orleans area. You love a boy who sits behind you in English class, the Saints and the Twilight vampire love novels/movies/global empire with equal fervor. So, if the latter two love objects go head-to-head in a celebrity baseball fundraiser event, for whom do you cheer?
Okay, that was a trick question. Pubescent girls love nothing as much as Twilight, so the question's very premises were flawed. A legion of tweenaged girls shrieked at decibels that approached glass-shattering ranges when the Sinners, a team of Twilight and New Moon cast members, vanquished the Saints last Saturday in a celebrity baseball game to benefit Haitian relief efforts and the Red Cross. (In this case, vanquishing means winning a coin toss to break a tie game.)
GARRETT HARTLEY (shown here at bat):
It's amazing, everyone coming out for people in Haiti and having a good time at the same time
Twilight casting director Lana Veenker:
I think it's really fun for the fans to get to see their favorite actors being goofballs and being themselves.Host Heather Michaels:
We came up with all new rules for baseball. (Garrett Hartley) kicked a field goal in the game of baseball. That's unheard of.
John Swider, game manager:
Actors are much more fun to manage than direct. Players are more serious. You can't have fun with it.
