If you're a fan of Treme and you're not reading the Back of Town blog, you're missing some of the best analysis of the show anywhere, by a group of people who know New Orleans very, very well.
Meanwhile, here's the trailer for Episode 3, which introduces New Orleans stage and screen veteran Vernel Bagneris as a Seventh Ward Creole and relative-by-marriage of LaDonna (Khandi Alexander):

To early to really tell, but M2C so far is that the series is a little too sentimental. I know that is likely to be what the creators have in mind, but so far it's missing some of the elements I enjoyed watching in 'The Wire' and 'Generation Kill' -- particularly the edge and the occasional bits of humor (dark or otherwise). I like the musical cameos, esp. the scene with Coco R on the OZ. The Problem With Davis McAlary Zahn's character, however, is being underutilized as a comical foil -- he should be a NOLA version of Rob Flemming, the record store owner of Nick Hornby's 1995 novel "High Fidelity" with perhaps a dash of Ignacious-like conviction of his views on musical genius. He can and should be the clown/jester of the show.
