Happy Cinco de Mayo! How 'bout instead of consuming buckets of frozen margaritas and queso dip, round up some items to help with the oil spill clean up. You already may have some of these things lying around your house.
Media arts nonprofit New Orleans Video Access Center (NOVAC) is collecting the following items to donate to the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Volunteer Program, which is helping with the clean-up effort:
Blue Dawn dishwashing detergent [Side note: Dawn sure is getting a lot of exposure out of this whole thing, isn't it?]
Absorbent linens (like towels and soft cloth)
Saline Solution
Nylon Pantyhose
Water
Gatorade
Bug spray
Sunscreen
Safety glasses (clear and dark)
Chicken boots
E-tech gloves
Safety utility knives
Dip nets (small mesh)
Pool cleaning nets
Mosquito head nets
Duct tape
Work vests
You can drop the items off at the NOVAC offices (532 Louisa St, 940-5780; info@novacvideo.org) Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The donation drive started today and lasts through May 14.

Please tell us how those of us who live out West can help. Can we ship these goods to the address on Louisa St? Many Thanks for all you're doing.
