Posted by Lauren LaBorde on Mon, Jun 21, 2010 at 4:42 PM

The Gulf Emergency Summit, a group of scientists, fishing community members, activists and others, is organizing a protest today at the Deepwater Horizon Unified Response Command Center, located at 1250 Poydras St. The summit convened this weekend at the First Unitarian Universalist Church to discuss ways to mobilize people to mitigate the Gulf oil disaster.

The protest begins at noon and ends at 2 p.m. Protesters are encouraged to bring "signs, bullhorns and energy." Call 606-3442 for details.

Wish I could be there. Maybe next time a part of me can... I just designed these shirts after funneling my anti-BP rage. http://www.cafepress.com/cleanitup

I want to tell you guys we are only getting bits and pieces of what is happening down there. The only truth are videos and people like you getting information out. Be sure Obama's ratings have fallen sharply and people are up in arms over this. I am filling my facebook page 3 times daily with news I find on the internet and others are to. People from NY my friend Joan and me in CA. are actively getting people involved. Pete Seiger is holding a concert in NY to raise money for what ever you need. Keep the videos coming and band togetherpower in numbers. It is the government making you feel isolated because they have a news black out & no fly zone over the area. They feed us nonsense too we know they are doing nothing but making the situation worse Testify about what is happening not happening illnesses fish animals deaths the animal rights are involved now also. Also across your videos are getting sent across the internet so keep them coming. We are putting pressure on Washington. with protest marches on DC. Those chemicals once air borne are very toxic. I worked on an oil spill in a land fill and the chemicals were in the drinking water nothing in comparison to what you are going through. If you can move away from the gulf I would go God Bless You Yes We are doing what we can this goverment is like a Dictatorship. He wants us at odds to pull off his destruction of the country. It is being said that this was planned as part of a bigger picture. We are with you. God Bless you ruth
