Chef Dominique Macquet is working towards opening his new restaurant Dominique's on Magazine (4729 Magazine St.) in early August. He's renovated a shotgun double a few doors down from Le Bon Temps Roule, and he is completing his menu. The photo above is from the "test kitchen" photos on the restaurant's Facebook page. The chef is working with general manager Mauricio Andrade, a longtime fixture at Emeril Lagasse's restaurants and executive offices. The menu will feature Macquet's unique combination of refined French technique and his coastal and far-flung culinary roots. Macquet is a native of Mauritius, a former French republic east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. The tropical nation has its own unique blend of cultural influences from Europe, Africa, India and China. The menu reflect some of the sensibilities of Dominique's in the Maison Dupuy Hotel, but will have a lower price point and be more kid-friendly.
