Out-of-Context Press Conference Quote of the Week

Posted by Alejandro de los Rios on Fri, Sep 17, 2010 at 5:40 AM

In honor of the Andrew Breibart School of Journalism, I’m introducing a new regular segment to BONO Sports wherein I take real but otherwise benign snippets from weekly press conferences, mix them up and present something totally inappropriate.

This week, we have a transcript of Sean Payton's thoughts as around the time he was photographed in an Illinois bar after his jersey was retired at his alma mater.

Hustle, effort and intensity...good body language. But that’s just between you and...I was a sophomore or junior in college the year they won the Super Bowl and he was fantastic. You, you’re always mindful...it’s contagious. It has, has has has been a distraction. If...what...I feel for you.

-

Really. The only thing the memories do is that it makes you feel older. That there are all sorts of things pulling all the time. I'm a big stick...stickle...stickle-stickleler...stickler! For that critical positions.

You don’t ever want to hold hands! You look confused. Don’t look frustrated. I'm concerned! There are a lot of snaps in a game! Full-go grass! Good shape!

-

Better body language! We got a family here. The locker room makes you feel older. Who watched? You found your niche. Body language! But that's just between you and me.

I read it twice. Wow. I'd say his thoughts were all over the place at that moment.
