It's October — a glorious month of clear, champagne-crisp weather that seems less like a sidereal inevitability and more like a grand gift from the universe for surviving another sticky NOLA summer. Time to celebrate the imminent end of hurricane season! Time to don jeans! Time to get your flea on!
Beginning next Sunday, Oct. 10, Elysian Fleas Marigny Market will take over the courtyard at 527 Elysian Fields. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., peripatetic musicians will serenade attendees as they shop for fresh produce, crafts, vintage goods, jewelry, costumes by designers like Howlpop and Avant Garbe and other artsy, locally-made, eco-friendly wares.
"The funky mix of merch is perfect for the Marigny," vendor organizer Cree McCree said in a press release.
Old New Orleans Rum will convert the courtyard into a beer garden featuring kegs and drink specials, while Bayou Brews caters to teetotalers with a selection of herbal teas. Kids can hang out in the pumpkin decorating patch. There's free parking in the lot at 516 Marigny St.
