Hoda Kotb booksigning in Metairie Oct. 16

The book...the woman...HODA.
  • The book...the woman...HODA.
I'll be honest — I used to watch Hoda Kotb on WWL-TV and enjoyed her anchorism skills, and I used to run into her once in a while at the Verti Marte when we both lived in the Lower Quarter, and she was always gracious enough to say hello to me and any other stranger who crossed her path ... but I've never seen her on the Today show with Kathie Lee Gifford for a number of reasons. Mostly because I'm at work. (Yeah.) And the Saturday Night Live parodies were enough to get the gist of what the show must be like:

But last week Hoda's publicist sent a copy of her new autobiography, Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee, and it has quite a bit in there about her time in New Orleans, including a whole chapter on the challenges of covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and Hoda will be coming to town next weekend to sign copies and shake hands and see all her old friends at the Barnes & Noble in Metairie. And there you have it.
