New Orleans joins Los Angeles and New York City as one of three Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programs, aimed to help kick start and develop small businesses and create jobs. The firm will offer $20 million in loans for small business development and also offer business education.
Goldman Sachs' Dina Powell said New Orleans is "the best lab for innovation in the country," and that the firm understands the city's need for "long-haul" investors and increased access to capital.
The firm also partners with Delgado, which will develop curriculum for small business owners to help take their businesses "to the next level," said Delgado chancellor Ron Wright. Business owners can find more information here. Classes are slated to begin in February.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu said he anticipates seeing a "relentless pursuit of jobs" in the next 12 months. "We are the most immediate lab for innovation and transformation taking place in America," he said. "We're now being recognized nationally for that."
