Here's another entry in a (soon-to-be) pretty regular feature on the Gambit blog. Enjoy.
R.E.M. is steadily leaking tracks from its upcoming release Collapse Into Now, which the band recorded in New Orleans. You can stream them on R.E.M.'s website. The album — the band's 15th in the studio — debuts March 7. Also on the album: Patti Smith, Eddie Vedder and Peaches. The band's Mike Mills told Spin, "It's really important to go out, get great food, shrug off the debris of the day, and just be friends and have a good time. In Berlin you drink beer and eat wurst. In New Orleans you eat Cajun food and drink Sazerac."
In case you missed it earlier this month, grab Curren$y's latest mixtape Return to the Winner's Circle. The mixtape follows the New Orleans rapper's impressive 2010 releases; Pilot Talk (both volumes I and II) dominated year-end best lists, yet the MC still flew under the radar with his pseudo-psychedelic, funk-laden hip-hop and super-stoned flow.
