James Beard Award semifinalists announced

The James Beard Foundation has announced semifinalists for its annual culinary awards, the Oscars of the industry. The long list of local nominees include:
Mondo for Best New Restaurant
Donald Link of Herbsaint and Cochon for Outstanding Chef
Herbsaint for Outstanding Restaurant
Beth Biundo of Lilette for Best Pastry Chef
Brigtsen's for Outstanding Service
Emeril's for Outstanding Service
Emeril's Ray Gumpert for Outstanding Wine Service
Sue Zemanick of Gautreau's for Rising Star Chef of the Year
Semifinalists for Best Chef South include
Scott Boswell, Stella!
Aaron Burgau, Patois
Adolfo Garcia, RioMar
John Harris, Lilette
Tory McPhail, Commander's Palace
Stephen Stryjewski, Cochon
The finalists will be announced March 21.
The winners will be announced at the New York gala May 9.
