Plan B to run a "mobile" bike repair site

Posted by Google on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 6:30 PM

Plan B Community Bike Project was shuttered last week following permit enforcement at the ARK building where it's housed. But organizers aren't cutting off services.

A "Mobile Plan B" runs Thursday, March 17 and Saturday, March 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the 1200 block of St. Roch Street neutral ground and will offer bike repair help and bike education. (The group's Facebook updates for the event read "WE WILL NOT BE STOPPED").

Plan B's ARK housemates The Iron Rail Book Collective also haven't been moved out completely. The bookstore and library continues to offer a selection of books, 'zines and records at its "Uptown site" at Hey! Cafe (4332 Magazine St.).

WDSU-TV said last week that there's speculation the ARK was closed as "retaliation" following the Krewe of Eris parade that resulted in the arrests of 12 paraders and an internal NOPD probe for officer misconduct.
