Co-op campaign

Posted By on Thu, Apr 14, 2011 at 5:51 PM

Leaders of the long-planned New Orleans Food Co-Operative hope to open their member-owned grocery store in the Faubourg Marigny in May, but to do so they say they need to recruit more members.

The nonprofit is campaigning this week to sign up interested residents and spread the word about its healthy food mission.

The campaign wraps with a free community barbecue at the future Co-Op store at 2372 St Claude Ave. on Sunday, April 17, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., during which people may also join the group.
