Caddywhompus released its new EP The Weight via Community Records, where its available as a free download. The four tracks on the seamless blast of noisy, melody-driven thrash — from the explosive opening title track to the alternately hazy and heavy closer "The Focus" — pick up (and expand) where the band left off with the excellent 2010 full-length The Remainder.

We don't intend to overload you with him, but at the rate he's putting out solid music, we have to at least try to keep up with the dude. Curren$y debuted his latest video and single "#jetsgo" (lots of Canal Street shots), the first single from the upcoming Weekend at Burnie's. (Check out the, um, highly suspicious album art. Puns!) Video here — heads up, NSFW.

Below the jump: More local hip-hop, garage rock and more.

Frank Ocean, the R&B element in Los Angeles' buzzworthy hip-hop collective Odd Future (ahem, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All), is an N.O. native. NOLABounce.com gave his "Swim Good" the bounce treatment here.

New Orleans rapper Koan (of E.O.E. fame) released Chronicles of a Dying Breed last month. Stream tracks on his website.

Young hip-hop duo DeepNSpace offers its mixtape 211 as a free album download, here.

Scuzzy garage rockers Jacuzzi Boys are at Siberia tomorrow night. Download "No More Reasons" here.

Brice Nice offers his May mixtape, a pre-summer onslaught of '60s soul and garage from Louisiana, on the Constance blog. Grab it here.

And local prog outfit Smiley with a Knife closes its career tonight at One Eyed Jacks with A Living Soundtrack and Black Belt. Download the band's latest single (and listen to music from previous albums) here.
